![]() Not nearly as good as P5/P5R imo, but that's totally okay. New characters are great, and seeing the Phantom Thieves again is great. TLDR: The game is very good and has a lot of awesome moments. Also, the soundtrack is incredible, but that's to be expected from this series. There are some fantastic moments in this game that you don't want to miss out on. It was great just seeing the characters again, and going on another adventure with them. I personally don't think it comes close to P5/P5R on pretty much all fronts, but tbh it doesn't have to. In Persona 5 Strikers you return as the same nameless high school student and reunite with the Phantom Thieves, your group of friends that faced down the invisible psychic threats plaguing the. The game definitely feels like a spin off and it's a more streamlined experience given that fact. The game cuts out the social sim stuff which makes sense, but if you're a big fan of that part of Persona (like me), you'll definitely feel its exclusion. Persona 5 Strikers is an action-RPG set in the Shin Megami Tensei Persona universe and featuring one-against-many battle mechanics created by Omega Force. ![]() It feels mostly on par with P5, but I felt that some stuff is even more in your face than Persona generally is. I don't agree with the sentiment that P5S has better character writing than P5/P5R, but it's still pretty good. If you just want an excuse to hang out with the Phantom Thieves again, along with some new additions, this game delivers that. As mentioned before, the characters get some amazing moments in this game, that certainly lean into fan service, but I honestly didn't care because those moments are awesome. They're easily the highlight of the story and they mesh really well with the already established character dynamic of the Phantom Thieves. ![]() Speaking of characters, the 2 new main additions are wonderful, and fit into the cast perfectly. That all being said, I still thought it was good, and it has some absolutely fantastic moments, mainly with the characters. Summing it up, it just feels like a lesser rehash of P5's story, which made it a lot less impactful to me. For me, it was too fast and it didn't focus enough on its story beats to lend any real weight to them. The pacing is a lot faster which could be a good thing or bad thing depending on your preference. It doesn't do all that much in terms of new ideas and it feels like an extremely condensed Persona 5 sequel. It's good but it hits similar story beats and ideas that P5 already does, which makes it stand out a lot less. I'd say lower your expectations on the story depending on how much you enjoyed P5/P5R's. I weirdly prefer the turn based combat of Persona, despite pretty much always enjoying action in games more. The combat is fun if not a little repetitive, and it translates Persona 5's combat mechanics to action combat pretty well.
